-Humanity is inherently flawed. We cheat, we lie, we destroy, we even kill others. So much so in fact, that in the year 2032 another World War erupted. It's been talked about a million times over, so I shall not bore you with another lecture on that particular subject. We gather here today to announce a creation of an institution to stop all the lies, all the misinformation that brought us to the brink of extinction. I am happy to announce... -The governor paused for good five seconds. He truly believed in what he was about to say, he was one of the people, who came up with the idea afterall. There was no going back now. A flash of warmth went about his body, his heartrate increased.-..the creation of the Truth Comitte!
The gathered people clapped their hands with enthusiasm. Is the time without lies truly coming? Humanity has been feeding itself with unconfirmed facts (A silly phrase, is it not?), falsehoods, poorly conducted research (I am sure the term 'budget cuts' is familiar to you.) - everything is done in a slapdash manner. It's a vicious cycle. In 2100, turning of a century, some people have decided to put an end to it. The job came with a lot of pressure. Builiding the whole infrastructure, the databases, MAIs, fund raising, not a month went by without someone working on it having a heart attack or getting depressed. Yes, the 21st century did not fix these problems. Some blamed the Greatest War for it, some thought they are simply part of our DNA and we cannot stop it.
MAI, what is it, you might wonder. Well, that is a thing that the Greatest War required - Micro Artificial Intelligences. Right from the start they had to be tied up with well-thought directives and safety measures (Though I personally would not strap a self-thinking computer to a nuclear missile.) so as not to bring us to extinction. We had it covered ourselves. I was a psychological engineer of the project. Calling it a 'he' or a 'she' would be a mistake as they cannot assume a gender by design. I went offtopic, I apologise. Let's go back to December 7, 2100.
